The management of research data is a topic that has gained increasing importance in research organisations for more than a decade and is required by many third-party funding programmes in new guidelines. The term research data management describes the entire planning, collection, processing, documentation, archiving and publication of research data. This workshop will focus on the reasons for good research data management and how to create a data management plan as a basis for project applications to third-party funding organisations. For the implementation of research data management, support services and various principles and models will be presented, such as the FAIR principles, the 5S Data Model or the 3-2-1 backup rules.
The following questions will be addressed:
- Why is good research data management important?
- What guidelines exist for handling research data?
- How do I create a data management plan?
- Which models and principles help me to implement good research data management?
