This course will explore interactions between our natural environment and objects made in tightly controlled technical processes.
We will...
-reflect on the particularities of human made structures and production techniques, emergent pattern formation in nature and their implicit power relations and temporalities + get to know some artwork that deals with the topic (1 block at beginning of term)
- learn how to use computer controlled fabrication techniques (laser cutting, 3D printing, CNC-Milling) as a tool to quickly produce shapes of our choice. (3 weekends, one for each tool during term, dates will be fixed when machines are ready)
- stage interactions between our techno-shapes and natural processes happening "in the wild" (two-three weeks of project consultation in August/September)
- Produce documentation that will enter the selection process for works shown at Ars Electronica 2026 |
