This Master course will provide engineers with the solid foundation in the road infrastructure system. The course will introduce engineers to the core principles of geometric design, construction methods, road maintenance activities and finally maintenance management. Related to the following Sustainable Development Goals of the UN: 9
1. Fundamentals and Planning Road infrastructure systems and network planning. Functional classifications and road categories. Safety risks, accident escalation, and property loss prevention. 2. Geometric Road Design Cross-section design Horizontal and vertical alignment Design elements
3. Construction and Materials Stages of road construction and earthworks. Road layer construction and layer works. Asphalt materials: properties, requirements, and construction guidelines.
4. Maintenance and Management Maintenance of roadway surfaces and identification of deformations. Maintenance activities, treatments, and prioritizing methods. Pavement Maintenance Management Systems (PMMS).
5. Digital Transformation BIM (Building Information Modeling) as a front for infrastructure transformation. Enhancing planning accuracy, design efficiency, and sustainability through BIM.
