| Beschreibung |
Students learn about the properties and possible applicationsof innovative and intelligent materials in the civil engineering sector. Illustrative examples are used to classify the limits of their use in the construction industry. These include (selection): self-healing concrete and self-healing coatings, intelligent glasses, transparent concrete, surfaces for pollutant degradation, textile concrete, (translucent) aerogels, CO2-reduced concrete, meta-concrete, wood-concrete composite construction. Understanding the relationships between the structure and behavior of the materials is crucial and is therefore acquired step by step. This should form the basis for a later application of the innovative materials in a variety of design forms. The cours thus also helps raise awareness of how the construction sector can contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, SDGs 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 12 (Sustainable Consumption and Production), and 13 (Climate Action) are directly addressed in the course. |

| Bemerkung |
Interdisciplinarity | Through the acquired understanding of the relationships between the structure and behavior of materials, students from the Faculties of Architecture and Urbanism, Business and Construction, and Architecture and Design will be able to consider the use of innovative materials for various design and construction tasks. Didactic Concept | The module is designed as an integrated lecture. Laboratory exercises and guest lectures are planned at appropriate points to deepen and expand the lecture material through external lecturers and practical perspectives. |
