Inhalt
| Beschreibung |
From a Social Science perspective, the city is considered as an urban community. Cities are physical and spatial as well as social types of memorials of human life and cohabitation. A high degree of dynamics but also continuity characterize the development of urban societies, but can also lead to conflicts and diverse problems. These problems, mainly deriving from the social construction of urban spaces, represent the main research motivation for this introductory seminar. An urban sociology approach allows addressing the question of how an urban community’s different problem areas can be better understood. Thus, the seminar is conceptualized as thorough scientific text analysis in combination with discussion and text visualisation methods, which are skills that might be helpful for the students’ research projects in the next semesters. The seminar will take place as a double lesson every week in October and November 2023 and will feature expert input, too. |
