Comparative Housing Studies - Einzelansicht

Housing is an important field of urban studies. Housing occupies much of urban space, through housing urban inequalities are (re-)produced and housing serves both as home for reproduction as well as commodity as a means for capital accumulation. In this seminar we will engage with the academic debates in comparative housing studies and the methodological question of how and on which scale to compare different housing regimes. Students will apply their knowledge by comparing case studies of different aspects of housing regimes, i.e. aspects of the political regulation of housing, of its socio-spatial materialization, of housing practices or of negotiation processes around housing.
